FWC officers conduct rescues in Central Florida, Treasure Coast
View FWC St. Lucie Flood Evacuations
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) continues to respond to areas of Florida's east coast impacted by severe weather. Dozens of FWC officers have deployed to Brevard and St. Lucie Counties to assist affected residents. A stalled weather front has brought record rainfall to both counties, with parts of Brevard County receiving nearly 23 inches. Many residents are unable to leave their homes or safely navigate roadways.
The FWC deployed 63 officers to Brevard County in addition to the local teams who have been conducting operations in these areas since Nov. 2. The deployment includes nine side-by-sides, seven airboats, and two shallow-water vessels.
More than 56 rescues occurred in the area on Nov.3 and more than 38 calls for service were completed.
The FWC also deployed 30 officers to St. Lucie County with reconnaissance drones, swamp buggies, airboats and shallow-water vessels. Officers have evacuated more than 190 residents and handled more than 200 calls for service.
FWC officers will continue using their training and specialized equipment to assist residents, law enforcement partners, and local emergency management officials during this historic weather event.
