AKRON, OHIO - Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced that the National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded the University of Akron $450,000 for water molecular research that gathers quantitative data on water to help support collaborative work within the polymer, beauty and agriculture industries.

"Research institutions like the University of Akron are driving innovation that strengthens our economy, advances scientific discovery, and improves lives. This federal investment will support groundbreaking research that could lead to economic growth while creating valuable opportunities for students and emerging scientists. I am proud to help secure resources that keep Akron at the forefront of innovation and prepare the next generation of researchers and problem-solvers," said Rep. Sykes.

"Thank you, Congresswoman Sykes, for your continued support of the National Science Foundation and the groundbreaking research taking place at the University of Akron. This investment strengthens American scientific leadership, provides valuable research opportunities for students, and advances fundamental discoveries that will contribute to innovations in chemistry, materials science, and related fields for years to come," said Suzanne Bausch, vice president for Research and Business Engagement.
