WINNER, S.D. - On Monday, April 6, 2026, a bridge repair project is scheduled to begin on the White River Bridge on S.D. Highway 47. A project for bridge repair work over Willow Creek near Clearfield on S.D. Highway 53 is scheduled to begin later this season. Both projects include concrete removal and repair of the existing bridge decks, followed by a concrete overlay at each location.

Work will be done in phases, with crews completing one lane of the bridge at a time. Traffic at each site will be reduced to a single lane across the bridge, controlled by temporary traffic signals. A 12-foot width restriction will be enforced on both the Highway 47 and Highway 53 bridge projects during active construction. Each phase of work is expected to last up to six weeks.

The prime contractor on the $1.4 million project is Journey Group of Sioux Falls, SD. The Highway 47 project is expected to be complete in August 2026. The overall project completion date is Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.
