Kylie Logsdon — October Volunteer of the Month

Kylie Logsdon has been a dedicated community volunteer, steadily building an impressive record of service.

She does this while balancing her role first as a middle and then a high school student (a sophomore this year) and student-athlete. What began as a way to spend a free summer productively has turned into a meaningful commitment to helping others and improving her community.

Kylie's journey with Volunteer Programs started back in June 2022, when rather than summer school she decided to pursue something new. "I just wanted to do something productive," she said.

That decision opened the door to a variety of service opportunities. Each taught her something different and leaving a lasting impression.

Her volunteer work is as diverse as it is impactful.

At the Ronald McDonald House, Kylie helped prepare meals for families staying there while their children received medical care. Although she didn't serve the meals directly, she says simply knowing she was helping to ease families' burdens felt rewarding.

She also lent a hand at the Food Bank, where she joined other volunteers in an assembly line to organize, pack and label boxes of food for distribution. Working alongside people she didn't know at first helped her develop valuable people skills and confidence. Outside of volunteering, Kylie plays basketball for her high school and loves history, particularly studying the Civil War era.

She's also looking ahead to her future career goals. Inspired by her interest in justice and advocacy, Kylie Logsdon hopes to become a criminal defense lawyer.
