Harrington Poultry Farm Fire


The Office of the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire at a poultry farm operation in Harrington.

On April 15, 2026 just after 3:00 PM, the Harrington Fire Company along with mutual aid fire companies were alerted to a chicken house fire in the 300 block of Hayfield Road. Firefighters arrived to find one chicken house fully involved in fire and it was spreading to a second building. Additional resources were requested. In total, 2 chicken houses and another structure were lost in the fire. Both of the chicken houses were full of birds at the time.

Investigators from the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. At this time, investigators are continuing their investigation.

No injuries were reported and losses are estimated at over $1 Million dollars.
