On June 7, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua met with Mr. Thoha Abubakur, President of the Maldives Heritage Society, and his team.
Mr. AbuBakur briefed Ambassador Kong on the development of the association and expressed appreciation for China's longstanding support for the Maldives' economic and social development. He said that the Association looks forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China in the field of cultural heritage preservation, learning from China's advanced experience, and promoting the development of relevant educational programs with China's support. He also expressed the hope of cultivating more professional talent to better protect and preserve the Maldives' cultural heritage.
Ambassador Kong noted that cultural heritage serves as an important carrier of a country's history and culture, and that its protection and preservation are of great significance. He said that China stands ready to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Maldives in cultural heritage preservation and other related fields, support the integration of cultural heritage conservation with tourism development, and contribute new impetus to the Maldives' economic and social development.
