Volusia County has officially launched Florida's first county-operated Domestic Abuse Offender Database, providing residents with a new online resource to easily search and access public records involving individuals convicted of qualifying domestic abuse offenses in Volusia County.
Volusia County Council Vice Chair and District 2 Councilman Matt Reinhart, who spearheaded the initiative, announced the database's launch earlier today. The announcement came during the Domestic Abuse Council of Volusia County's "Turning the Tide - Working Together to Prevent Domestic Violence" conference at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, bringing the launch of this new public safety resource to an event focused on raising awareness, strengthening partnerships, and advancing efforts to prevent domestic abuse.
The database consolidates existing public record information from the Volusia County Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office into a single, searchable resource, making it easier for residents to locate relevant records and make informed, safety-conscious decisions. Previously, residents seeking this information had to search through the Clerk's public records system.
The Volusia County Council approved the initiative July 21, directing County staff to work in partnership with the Clerk's Office to develop the database. The new system frequently synchronizes with the Clerk's case management system, allowing newly qualifying convictions to be added and helping ensure the information remains current.
The database includes individuals convicted of qualifying domestic abuse or dating violence offenses in Volusia County within recent years. Available information includes each individual's full legal name, date of birth, most recent qualifying booking photo, applicable case numbers, references to relevant Florida statutes, and offense dates.
Designed to make existing public records easier to access, the database serves as a convenient starting point for residents seeking information about qualifying offenses. The County encourages users to review additional records through the appropriate law enforcement agencies and the Volusia County Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office to obtain further details about individual cases.
By bringing existing public records together into one convenient, easy-to-use resource, the County is making it simpler for residents to find and access important information without having to navigate multiple records or conduct extensive searches.
