City welcomes José Lopez-Nava as Municipal Court Administrator

The City of Colorado Springs has named José Lopez-Nava as its new municipal court administrator. Lopez-Nava brings 10 years of experience in criminal justice and court administration, spanning public service, program management and community-centered justice.

The municipal court administrator oversees the day-to-day business and administration of the Colorado Springs Municipal Court, including court personnel, records, administrative procedures and courthouse operations.

"Jose brings a strong combination of criminal justice experience, court administration and public-service leadership to this important role," said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. "His career reflects an understanding that an effective court system must pair operational excellence and accountability with service to people. I am confident Jose will bring that approach to leading our Municipal Court team, strengthening partnerships across our justice system and ensuring the court continues to serve our residents with professionalism, efficiency and care."

Most recently, Lopez-Nava served as deputy court administrator for Boulder Municipal Court, where he contributed to court operations and community-centered justice practices. His previous experience includes serving as diversion director at the Larimer County District Attorney's Office and as a probation and parole officer. He also has experience managing behavioral and treatment-focused clinical programs in Sacramento, California.

In addition to his work in court administration, Lopez-Nava is a lecturer at the University of Colorado Denver, where he teaches courses in juvenile justice and juvenile delinquency. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver and is pursuing a Doctorate in Education Leadership there.
