Showcase highlights student, faculty, and staff achievements March 23–27

Showcase - the annual celebration of the academic achievements of Washington State University's faculty, staff, and students - is taking place March 23-27.

This year's events kick off Monday, March 23, with the Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities from 3:30-4:45 p.m. inside the Compton Union Building Senior Ballroom on the WSU Pullman campus.

On Tuesday, Anjan Bose, a regents professor with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, will be giving this year's Distinguished Faculty Address at 3 p.m. inside the Terrell Library Atrium. Bose is a luminary in the field of electrical power engineering and power grid control with more than four decades of experience in academia and industry.

Earlier in the day, members of the WSU community can hear from Robert Olsen, an emeritus professor with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, as part of the Legacy of Excellence Lecture from noon-2 p.m. inside the Smith Center for Undergraduate Research, room 518.

Three-Minute Thesis - a research communication competition wherein doctoral students have just 180 seconds to talk about their work - is happening inside room 305 of the Veterinary Biomedical Research Building at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25.

Both Academic Showcase and the Graduate and Professional Student Association Research Exposition will be taking place from 9 a.m.-noon March 26 on the Upper Concourse of Beasley Coliseum. The former is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and graduate students to share their work with the wider WSU community, while the latter is a chance for graduate and professional students to compete for $9,600 in awards.

Members of the WSU community will also have a chance on March 28 to celebrate Cougs who've authored or edited a book in the past year at Crimson Reads. The event is taking place at the Holland and Terrell Libraries' Atrium.

Friday signals the end of this year's Showcase with the Celebrating Excellence Banquet at 5 p.m. on the main floor of Beasley Coliseum.

More information about this year's events is available on the Showcase website.
