Mayor TJ Gilmore has ordered the Lewisville flag to be lowered at all City of Lewisville facilities in honor of former Mayor Clarence Myers, who died this morning. The flags will remain lowered for a period of five days or until burial, whichever is earlier.
Clarence Myers served two terms as Lewisville's mayor from 1979 to 1981, and again in January-May 2000 to fill a vacancy. He was a 1956 graduate of Lewisville High School, a member of the record-setting 1955 LHS football team, ranked third academically in his graduating class, and is a member of the LHS Hall of Fame. He was named "Citizen of the Year" by the Chamber of Commerce in 1980 and by the VFW in 1981.
