Efrat Nechushtai, a faculty member at the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs, authored "Does Trust Matter? Why Journalists Need to Rethink the Relationship with Their Audience." Based on extensive ethnographic research, the book explores how journalists around the world are responding to public distrust and hostility.

Nechushtai's latest book also offers insights into how journalists can build resilience against increasingly sophisticated attempts to undermine their work, including AI-powered influence campaigns and online propaganda.

Nechushtai's research focuses on journalism studies and political communication. She is particularly interested in the impact of platformization and political polarization on journalism, both in the United States and internationally.
