Six online Webster University programs were listed as among the best online programs in the United States in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Online Programs Rankings. The nursing program made the list for the first time. The rankings were revealed this morning.
This year, more colleges and universities were reviewed for the annual ranking, due to the rising demand for online education, U.S. News & World Report said. Despite this increased competition on the list, all of the programs Webster had on last year's list were ranked again near their same positions.
"Webster is an innovator when it comes to online education, and the fact that our programs are ranked so well reflects that reality," said Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Hulsizer. "Our programs are taught by the same professors who teach in-person classes, and our curriculum is standardized across all our modalities. Whether you are taking a class in St. Louis, Geneva or online, you will receive the same high-quality instruction."
Webster's Nursing program was a new entry on the list, with a ranking in the 152-201 range. For the second year in a row, Webster's School of Humanities and Social Sciences' Criminal Justice program was ranked in the top 100 in the country, with a ranking of 71. Other programs that made the list were the George Herbert Walker's School of Business & Technology information technology programs, which includes the Information Technology and Cybersecurity degrees (81-106 range), the Walker School's business programs (167-221 range), the Walker School's MBA program (276-364 range), and the School of Education's programs (ranked at 212).
According to U.S. News & World Report, this year's Best Online Programs ranking evaluated more than 1,850 online bachelor's and master's degree programs using metrics specific to online learning. The rankings only include degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions. The full rankings are online.
