April 28, 2026 - CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) will celebrate the Class of 2026 with two Commencement ceremonies at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 23. Nearly 1,580 of the 2,079 students eligible to graduate will participate in one of the ceremonies, based on their academic major.
"Commencement is a powerful milestone that reflects not only our students' academic achievements, but also their resilience, determination, and commitment it took to get here," said Interim President Susan Andrzejewski. "The Class of 2026 leaves Cal State Channel Islands prepared to lead and serve in their communities, and we are proud to celebrate all they have accomplished and the impact they will continue to make."
The morning ceremony will include undergraduate students from 16 academic programs, including Anthropology, Art, Art History, Chicana/o Studies, Communication, Dance Studies, Early Childhood Studies, English, History, Liberal Studies, Music, Performing Arts, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, and Theatre & Performance Studies. Graduate students earning master's degrees in Early Childhood Studies, Educational Leadership, and School Counseling will also participate, along with students receiving teaching credentials.
The afternoon ceremony will include undergraduate students from 14 academic programs, including Applied Physics, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Environmental Science & Resource Management, Global Studies, Health Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Mechatronics Engineering, Nursing, and Political Science. Graduate students earning master's degrees in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Biotechnology/Bioinformatics & Business Administration, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Nursing, and Public Administration will also participate.
The University will also honor two distinguished leaders whose contributions have advanced education, culture, and community impact across Ventura County with honorary doctorates: Mr. Javier Gomez (morning ceremony) and Dr. Cynthia Herrera (afternoon ceremony).
