NEW CASTLE - New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry announced today new interim leadership at the Police Athletic League of Delaware (PAL DE), with locations in Hockessin, New Castle (Garfield Park), and Delaware City.
Effective immediately, Chief of New Castle County Police, James Leonard, has taken over as interim Chair of the Board. Jeff Whitmarsh will continue in his role as Vice Chair of the Board, and current Board Member Sam Waltz will serve as Secretary and Treasurer. Following the resignation of the former Executive Director, Lt. Angela Dolan will take over as interim Executive Director. A search for a permanent Executive Director is underway.
"Recently, I was made aware of some concerning issues at the PAL DE," said County Executive Marcus Henry. "We immediately took action to put temporary, trusted leadership in place to right the ship. I've instructed Col. Leonard to work out the best path forward to serve our youth, because they should always remain the top priority for this organization."
New leadership has been directed to work closely with partners and supporters of the PAL DE to ensure that services to local youth are not impacted by this change. The County is committed to providing the PAL with the resources they need to best serve the community. New Castle County is eager to partner with the Board to support the PAL DE's programming, mission, and guidance for Delaware children. To that end, the County Executive will be joining new leadership at the Garfield Park PAL next Tuesday, August 26, to welcome back students as the summer comes to an end.
