City of West Hollywood Celebrates Go-Go Dancer Appreciation Month with ‘Go-Go Madness’ in the City’s Rainbow District

The City of West Hollywood is celebrating Go-Go Dancer Appreciation Month throughout March 2026 with the debut of Go-Go Madness, a month-long series of promotions recognizing the go-go dancers who energize the City's nightlife and help define the cultural vibrancy of West Hollywood's Rainbow District.

Go-go dancers are an iconic part of West Hollywood nightlife and a vibrant expression of LGBTQ+ culture along the City's historic Santa Monica Boulevard corridor. The first Go-Go Dancer Appreciation event in West Hollywood was held in 2011 and included street parties, performances, and competitions at local bars and businesses. Building on that tradition, the City of West Hollywood is proud to debut Go-Go Madness, a dynamic celebration that supports the local nightlife community and spotlights the City's bold spirit, creativity, and LGBTQ+ history.

"Go-Go Madness shines a spotlight on the incredible performers who keep the Rainbow District dancing all year long," said City of West Hollywood Vice Mayor Danny Hang. "Our City's go-go dancers bring talent and unforgettable energy to West Hollywood's nightlife, and this celebration is our way of showing appreciation for the performers who make our evenings brighter and a lot more fun."

"Go-go dancers have long been part of the magic that makes West Hollywood nightlife so iconic," said City of West Hollywood Councilmember Chelsea Lee Byers. "They light up the dance floor, keep the crowd energized, and help create the welcoming, joyful atmosphere that makes our city such a special place to celebrate and connect."

Go-Go Madness features special themed competitions and promotions across participating nightlife venues in the City's Rainbow District, recognizing the dancers who create memorable experiences for patrons and contribute to the district's dynamic entertainment culture. Participating venues hosting Go-Go Madness competitions include The Abbey, Beaches Tropicana, Beaches WeHo, The Chapel, Mattie's, Micky's, Revolver, and The Wild. Each competition will highlight go-go dancers performing for audiences and competing for special prize packages. Winners from the month's competitions will be formally recognized at the regular meeting of the West Hollywood City Council on Monday, April 6, 2026.

In addition to competitions, bars in the Rainbow District will participate in Go-Go Madness promotions throughout the month of March to highlight the dancers who energize West Hollywood nightlife. Participating venues include Gym Bar and Schmitty's, with additional venues expected to be added throughout the month.

The City of West Hollywood's Rainbow District, located along historic Santa Monica Boulevard in the heart of West Hollywood, is the region's LGBTQ+ nightlife and entertainment hub. The Rainbow District is home to an iconic collection of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and community gathering spaces. Known worldwide for its inclusive atmosphere and vibrant nightlife, the Rainbow District has long served as a center for LGBTQ+ culture, expression, and celebration, and it attracts visitors from around the globe.
