Eastbound and Westbound U.S. 36 Off-Ramp Work Scheduled to Begin in Macon

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, as early as May 26, motorists will notice ramp work and intersection improvements beginning at the following locations in the City of Macon:

• U.S. Route 36 eastbound and westbound off-ramps at the U.S. Route 63 interchange
• Intersection of U.S. 63, Bus. 36 and W. Briggs Drive

Contractor crews are scheduled to begin improvements on the eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 off-ramps, located at the U.S. 63 interchange in Macon. Work will include the realignment of the eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 off ramps, allowing for traffic signal and lighting upgrades, and the addition of separate left and right turn lanes at the ramp terminals. A 10-foot lane restriction will be in place where crews are actively working.

Additionally, various closures can be expected at the U.S. 63, Bus. 36 and W. Briggs Drive intersection in Macon. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Between the nighttime hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., work will occur in the right turn lanes. The work includes signal, lighting and island improvements. Flaggers will be utilized to guide traffic through the work zone.

All work is scheduled to be completed by October 1, 2026. Signs, including message boards, will be utilized for traffic control and alerts such as schedule changes. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
