Mayor Mike Johnston Responds to Council Budget Requests

Published on October 16, 2026

Mayor Mike Johnston today responded to Denver City Council's requests regarding the 2027 budget.

Revisions include adding funding to the Denver Health and Hospital Authority, providing more dollars for the city's Business Impact Opportunity (BIO) program to support businesses impacted by construction, and increasing staffing in several areas - most notably in 911 and 311 call centers.

"We are proud to partner with Council on a budget that is balanced, thoughtful, and that puts the needs of our residents first," said Mayor Mike Johnston. "These are strong additions that will serve our city well, and we look forward to continued collaboration and discussion with Council in the weeks ahead."

The full letter from Mayor Johnston to City Council is available here. The revised budget book reflecting these changes will be available on Monday, Oct. 19 at denvergov.org/budget.
