Buena Park Announces New Police Chief, Bradley T. Geyer

Buena Park, Calif. - The City of Buena Park is proud to announce the appointment of Chief Bradley T. Geyer as the new Chief of Police for the Buena Park Police Department. With 28 years of law enforcement experience, Chief Geyer brings extensive experience to one of the most critical executive management positions within the City's organizational structure.

Chief Geyer began his law enforcement career with the Buena Park Police Department in February 1998 as a police recruit and was appointed as a full-time police officer in July 1998. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of assignments, including patrol, auto theft investigations, undercover narcotics investigations and multiple leadership positions.

After promoting to Sergeant, Chief Geyer supervised patrol operations and oversaw the Crimes Property Division, Crimes Persons Division, and Community Impact Team. He later served as a Patrol Watch Commander and Detective Bureau Commander after his promotion to Lieutenant. In 2021, he was promoted to Captain, continuing his leadership and service to the Department. In December 2025, Chief Geyer was appointed Interim Police Chief following the previous Chief's retirement.

Throughout his career, Chief Geyer has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the Buena Park community. His accomplishments have been recognized through numerous awards and commendations, including community recognition, Captain's Letters, Top Cop Awards, and the Police Department's Lifesaving Award. He also served on the Police Association Board for 12 years, including terms as Treasurer and President.

"Chief Geyer has dedicated nearly three decades of his career to serving the Buena Park community," said Mayor Connor Traut. "His experience, proven leadership and deep understanding of our Police Department make him well prepared to lead the department into the future."

Chief Geyer holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Finance from Loyola Marymount University and a master's degree in Public Administration from National University. He also holds an Advanced POST Certificate, a POST Supervisory Certificate and a POST Management Certificate.

"It is a privilege to lead the Buena Park Police Department and work alongside the dedicated men and women who serve our community every day. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to building on that foundation," said Chief Geyer.
