On May 8, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Mr. Angel Bandjov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Ambassador Jia noted that, Bulgaria was the second country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. In recent years, the China-Bulgaria strategic partnership has maintained sound and steady development. In the face of the current turbulent and unstable international situation, China is willing to work with Bulgaria on multilateral platforms in Geneva to enhance friendly cooperation, jointly uphold multilateralism, and promote the building of a more just and equitable global governance system. It is hoped that Bulgaria will play an active role in promoting the healthy development of China-Europe relations.
Ambassador Bandjov stated that, Bulgaria and China enjoy a traditional friendship, and Bulgaria attaches great importance to its relations with China. Bulgaria firmly adheres to the one-China policy. Bilateral exchanges and cooperation across various fields have continued to deepen. Bulgaria is willing to strengthen communication with China on multilateral platforms in Geneva to uphold multilateralism and international fairness and justice.
