The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has released new interactive data tools to provide economic insights into low- and moderate-income (LMI) populations. The LMI Data Books allow users with minimal data experience to explore and visualize public data on demographics, employment, wages, and housing for every county in the Kansas City Fed's seven-state region, which includes Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and parts of Missouri and New Mexico.
Organizations and government agencies serving LMI populations can use the tools to support their services and better understand the economic conditions for the populations they serve. Additionally, the general public can use the tools to easily see economic conditions in their communities, particularly for LMI populations for whom conditions are often difficult to assess.
The LMI Data Books allow users to quickly and easily sort through publicly available demographic and economic data to identify trends in LMI communities. Key findings in the initial release include:
