TRENTON, NJ - Lieutenant Governor Dr. Dale G. Caldwell announced that the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives has become the New Jersey Faith Action Center (FAC), marking a significant step in strengthening collaboration between State government and faith-based and community organizations across New Jersey. Lieutenant Governor Caldwell and FAC Director Semaj Vanzant were joined by faith and community leaders in Ocean Grove for the announcement.

Aligned with the successful operational model of the Department of State's Business Action Center, the newly established Faith Action Center will serve as a centralized hub connecting houses of worship, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders directly with State resources, programs, and interagency partnerships.

Governor Mikie Sherrill emphasized that the initiative reflects the Administration's commitment to responsive, action-oriented government.

"We are proud to launch the Faith Action Center within our first 100 days as part of our commitment to deliver a more responsive, service-focused government," said Governor Sherrill. "Faith-based institutions are among the most trusted and effective partners serving our communities every day. This new center will strengthen collaboration between state government and these organizations to expand opportunity, support families, and deliver real results for New Jerseyans."

Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell noted that the transformation represents a shift from engagement to measurable action.

"This initiative moves us beyond conversation toward coordination and impact," said Lieutenant Governor Caldwell, who oversees the Faith Action Center as Secretary of State. "Taking inspiration from the way the Business Action Center connects businesses with state government, the Faith Action Center will strengthen connections between faith and community institutions and New Jersey government, enhancing public service and driving meaningful change."

The Faith Action Center will focus on expanding workforce and economic opportunity partnerships; supporting community health and wellness initiatives; enhancing disaster preparedness and emergency response coordination; increasing civic engagement and volunteerism; and improving access to grants, technical assistance, and State services.

Faith communities throughout New Jersey have historically played a vital role in addressing food insecurity, youth development, violence prevention, housing stability, and community resilience. The Faith Action Center formalizes and strengthens these partnerships through a coordinated, whole-of-government approach.

The establishment of the Faith Action Center reinforces New Jersey's commitment to innovation, collaboration, and inclusive engagement, ensuring that government resources reach residents through the trusted institutions closest to the people.
