UIW Makes National 2026 “Great Colleges to Work For” List

University Recognized in Annual Survey for 18th Consecutive Year

San Antonio - September 18, 2026 - The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to announce that, for the 18th consecutive year, it has been recognized as one of the best universities to work for in the nation according to a new survey by the "Great Colleges to Work For" program. This year also marks the return of UIW to the program's Honor Roll making this the 15th time the University has achieved that distinction. The Honor Roll designation is awarded to the top 10 four-year colleges in each size group that are recognized in the greatest number of categories.

The results of the "Great Colleges to Work For" survey are collected by the independent company ModernThink and released today in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education. UIW is one of just 76 institutions recognized nationally.

UIW was recognized in six categories by the survey this year including Mission and Pride, Shared Governance, Faculty Experience, Professional Development, Faculty and Staff Well-being and Compensation and Benefits.

Boyer, chief culture strategist at ModernThink. "This year's recognized institutions survive and thrive in challenging times because of their commitment to the fundamentals."

According to the organization, the "Great Colleges to Work For" program was designed to recognize colleges that have been successful in creating great workplaces and to further research and understand the factors, dynamics and influences that have the most impact on organizational culture in higher education. This year marked the 19th anniversary of the program. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback. The "Great Colleges to Work For" program is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country.
