Campus Wide Annual Space Survey 2026 TRAINING

The University of Tennessee is back to conducting the Annual Verification of Space Inventory, this year on a new platform, Planon. The survey period will be April 6-May 22, 2026

The University of Tennessee Health Sciences is required under both state and federal regulations to maintain an accurate inventory of space in all university-owned and leased buildings.

This data supports multiple critical functions, including requests for federal research reimbursements, state funding for new construction and renovation projects, and development of the Campus Master Plan.

Additionally, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission requires the University of Tennessee to report facilities data for all campuses as part of the space justification process, which is directly tied to funding. Because funding decisions are closely linked to the accuracy of this data, it remains a priority for all UT campuses.

Accordingly, your careful and accurate attention to this project is essential, and meeting the established deadline is critical. Following the completion of departmental data updates, several downstream review and approval processes occur, making timely submission vital to the overall success of this effort.

Training Sessions for Departmental Surveyors:

The training provides surveyors with pertinent detailed instructions for adequately completing the space survey process and relationship to funding. Tiffanie Casteel, Program Manager, Space Management Analysis with UT Systems and Andrea Kolen, Director, Space Planning and Utilization, will conduct training sessions and answer questions related to documenting the information required for the survey.
