According to reporting by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gov. Brian Kemp is calling a special session set for June 17 to redraw the state's political maps ahead for the 2028 election
Georgia is looking to further gerrymander its maps following the Supreme Court's decision to greenlight states' ability to more easily dilute the power of Black and brown voters
Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement on Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) calling a special session to redraw the state's political maps.
"Georgians are angry about the broken promises of this President. Everything is more expensive because of an endless war and reckless tariffs. On top of that, 1.2 million Georgians saw their health care premiums double, all to fund tax cuts for billionaires.
Now, the same people who robbed Georgians of their doctor are robbing Georgians of their voice by redrawing the lines. Republicans under the Gold Dome are using their powers, not to make life more affordable, but to escape accountability from the people.
I will continue to lead the charge to ban gerrymandering federally, protecting our democracy once and for all."
