Baker Donelson Welcomes Litigator Robert Baxley as Shareholder in Birmingham

Robert Baxley has joined the national law firm Baker Donelson's Birmingham office as a shareholder in the Firm's Commercial Litigation Group.

Mr. Baxley provides strategic counsel across a broad range of commercial litigation and appellate matters and represents clients in complex disputes involving significant legal exposure and reputational risk. His practice includes business torts, class actions, trade secret claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, non-solicitation and non-compete matters, fraud claims, and complex breach of contract cases, as well as appeals and matters presenting novel procedural and legal issues.

Mr. Baxley's approach is shaped by his broad litigation and appellate background, with an emphasis on forward-looking strategies designed to achieve successful legal outcomes while supporting clients' long-term business objectives. In addition to litigation, he regularly assists clients in navigating regulatory frameworks, recent legislative developments, and related business risks. His clients include corporations, financial services institutions, health care and dental services organizations, utilities, and other regulated entities.

Throughout his career, Mr. Baxley has guided clients through all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through motion practice, trial, and appeal. He also regularly handles matters involving injunctive relief, including emergency proceedings in which business operations or continuity are at stake. His appellate experience includes matters before the Fifth, Sixth, Eleventh, and D.C. Circuits, as well as Alabama and other state appellate courts.

Mr. Baxley earned his B.A. from Rhodes College and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. He previously served as a law clerk for the Hon. Ed Carnes on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has been listed in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America since 2021 for Commercial Litigation and Litigation - Banking and Finance, and he was selected to Mid-South Rising Stars by Super Lawyers for Business Litigation 2024 - 2025.
