Senator Fontana Announces Nearly $5 Million in Infrastructure Grants

Allegheny County - January 20, 2026 - Today, SenatorWayne Fontanaannounced $4,597,527 ininfrastructure grantswere awarded to projects and communities throughout the 42nd senatorial district.

"Projects to ensure pedestrian safety, beautify our communities, and improve traffic patterns are smart state investments," said Senator Fontana. "I am proud to have advocated for these projects that will benefit the communities and residents of my district."

Since 2016, Sen. Fontanahas secured $21.2 million instate Multimodal Transportation Funding for projects and communities inhis Senate District.

Sen. Fontanasecured funds for:

  • Lindy Paving, Inc. - $1,500,000 towards the replacement and expansion of the dock infrastructureat its Neville Island Terminal facility
  • Green Tree Borough - $650,000 towards sidewalk enhancements throughout the borough
  • Northside Leadership Conference - $594,540 to install pedestrian lighting along East Ohio Street
  • McKees Rocks Borough - $500,000 towards the project to repave Chartiers Avenue
  • Urban Impact Foundation - $339,742 for pedestrian safety improvements around its North Charles Street campus
  • Children's Museum of Pittsburgh - $136,101 for sidewalk improvements

Other Multimodal grantsawarded inthe district include:

  • Avalon Borough - $102,000 for pedestrian improvements at the intersection of New Brighton Road and Union Avenue
  • Bellevue Borough - $300,000 towards improving the streetscape of Lincoln Avenue
  • City of Pittsburgh - $349,098 for the preliminary design and engineering for the intersection improvement project at the Bloomfield Bridge, MainStreet, and Liberty Avenue
  • Heinz History Center - $126,046 for sidewalk improvements along Penn Avenue and 13th Street inthe Strip District.

Grantswere awarded at the January 20, Commonwealth Financing Authority board meeting from the Multimodal Transportation Fund. Multimodal Transportation Fund grantsare intended to encourage economic development and to ensure safe and reliable transportation is available to residents.
