WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined Senate colleagues in urging a federal court to issue a ruling that protects minors in immigration detention. The senators filed an amicus brief to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals urging them to uphold the 1997 Flores Settlement Agreement, which sets critical minimum standards for children in immigration detention and continues to be the single most effective protection for detained immigrant children.
"Donald Trump's cruel and inhumane mass deportation agenda includes separating families and detaining children," said Senator Rosen. "As courts have agreed for decades, children need to be protected while in custody of immigration agencies. I'm proud to join my colleagues in this briefing to stop the Trump administration from human rights abuses."

Senator Rosen has been outspoken in her strong support for immigrant families. This week, she called for the impeachment of Kristi Noem and committed to voting against additional ICE funding until significant guardrails are put in place. Last year, she helped introduce the Protect Sensitive Locations Act, which would provide commonsense protections against immigration enforcement in sensitive locations like schools, hospitals, and churches. She also strongly denounced the Trump Administration for revoking a previously authorized TPS extension for immigrants from Venezuela.
