Murphy Statement on Protests in Albania

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on Tuesday issued the following statement on the protests taking place in Albania:

"I strongly support the right of Albanians to peacefully protest. But recent acts of violence are causing the situation to spiral out of control. The Albanian government should take immediate steps to deescalate the situation and address the protesters' legitimate concerns, including a reconsideration of the controversial Vjosa-Narta development project backed by the Kushner and Trump families."
