Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Chen Chuandong Visits Collective Shelter in Sidon

On March 25, Ambassador Chen Chuandong, together with UNHCR Representative in Lebanon, Ms. Karolina Billing, visited a collective shelter in Sidon. The project is partially funded by the China Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund.

Ambassador Chen and Ms. Billing spoke with the elderly and women, inquiring about their conditions, and joined children in games. Ambassador Chen stated that the international community has not forgotten Lebanon, and China will always be a sincere friend of the Lebanese people. He highlighted the the unity and solidarity shown by the residents of Sidon, and refereed to it as great wealth of the Lebanese people.

Ambassador Chen and Ms. Billing also met with Sidon Mayor Mustafa Hijazi and toured the city's observatory. Ambassador Chen introduced China's ongoing humanitarian aid projects, and a new batch of emergency aid, emphasizing that China will continue to provide assistance to the Lebanese people. Mayor Hijazi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the selfless assistance from the Chinese Government and the strong support from the UNHCR.
