Three Ascension Illinois hospitals named on Forbes’ inaugural Top Illinois Hospitals list

Ascension Illinois is excited to announce that Ascension Alexian Brothers, Ascension Saint Alexius and Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago all earned spots on Forbes' inaugural "Top Hospitals by State" list. This recognition highlights, on average, the top 30% of hospitals in each state, as calculated by the organization.

The Forbes Top Hospitals rating system includes input from an advisory panel of clinicians, scientists, health policy researchers and patient advocates, and data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog (PDC). The dataset informs the organization's scoring on patient outcomes, best practices, value and overall patient experience.

"I would like to thank Forbes for recognizing all three Ascension hospitals here in Illinois. We have remained steadfast in providing the highest quality of care to the communities we serve and I am so proud that the data has validated this effort," said Dr. David Bordo, Chief Clinical Officer, Ascension Illinois. "My appreciation extends to our medical staff and all our associates who remain committed to this goal."

These ratings place most of its scoring value on clinical outcomes and is adjusted based on a patient population's social determinants of health. This means that socioeconomic factors, access to medical services and the conditions in which people live near a facility affect a hospital's rating.

In 2025, Saint Joseph - Chicago and Saint Alexius, also earned spots on Forbes' inaugural list of the nation's top hospitals.

All three hospitals have earned quality recognitions in in the last year, highlighting their commitment to excellence across multiple service lines and specialties:
