Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 18 August 2026, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, H.E. Mauro Vieira, in Brasilia, as part of his Working Visit to Brazil. Both sides reviewed the positive momentum in ASEAN-Brazil relations and discussed ways to advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including through the implementation of the ASEAN-Brazil Practical Cooperation Areas (2024-2028). They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the ASEAN-Brazil Sectoral Dialogue Partnership.

Following the meeting, Minister Vieira hosted a luncheon in honour of the Secretary-General of ASEAN, underscoring the warm and growing ties between ASEAN and Brazil.
