Participants gather during the 2026 International Marine Summer Camp in Qingdao, China. Ocean University of China hosted the program, which focused on sustainable marine development and ocean science.

University of Alaska Fairbanks graduate students Molly Minick and Chase Thompson will share insights from the 2026 International Marine Summer Camp in Qingdao, China.

Alongside participants from Brazil, Canada, China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, the two UAF Arctic and Northern studies master's students attended seminars covering marine sustainability, coastal governance and polar science. The students' talk will highlight how the global exchange shaped their thesis research on Arctic ocean law and polar shipping routes.

The free public event takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6-7:30 p.m. in UAF's BP Design Theater and online via Zoom.

This event is sponsored by the UAF Arctic and Northern studies program and is supported by the Arctic Leadership Initiative.
