Law Enforcement Officials Gather To Discuss Partnerships, Collaboration, Preparedness

DENVER - Law enforcement officials from across Colorado gathered this week for the annual Colorado Law Enforcement Coordination Conference hosted by the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado. The event brings together agencies across local, state, and federal levels of government with the purpose of partnership development, collaboration, and preparedness.

Over the two-day session, law enforcement officials spent time hearing from experts from across the justice system who spoke about topics including human trafficking, online radicalization of juveniles, violent crime, transnational criminal organizations, tracing illicit proceeds, and emerging tools and techniques.

Another critical area of conversation involved state and federal collaboration during crisis response. The event's keynote panel included U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado Peter McNeilly, Denver District Attorney John Walsh, and Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty - each of whom have unique professional experiences responding to and managing serious situations in the state.

"It is both an honor and a critical opportunity for law enforcement officials from across Colorado to gather with the goal of developing partnerships, collaboration, and preparedness," said United States Attorney for the District of Colorado Peter McNeilly. "Law enforcement is complex and critical work, and I am proud to stand with our partners at the local, state, and federal levels to advance justice and protect the people of Colorado."

"Colorado has a long history of cooperation between local, state and federal law enforcement," said Denver District Attorney John Walsh. "That cooperation, which continues today, has played a major role in significantly reducing crime in the state over the past few years. This conference is a great opportunity for law enforcement agencies from across the state to make our partnership even stronger, and Colorado even safer."

"Collaboration and preparedness are critical to enhancing public safety which is a role we take very seriously," said Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty. "When federal, state, and local partners come together with shared purpose, we strengthen our ability to protect communities and respond to emerging challenges. These discussions and partnerships reflect our collective commitment to working together to delivering meaningful results to the people we serve."

The Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police, the County Sheriffs of Colorado, the Colorado District Attorney's Council, and the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police helped to make the event possible.
