DALLAS, Feb. 5, 2026 - They are our mothers, our wives, our daughters, our sisters. Nearly half of women in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke - a figure that is only expected to grow. To raise awareness of the fight against cardiovascular disease in women - their number one killer -- people from coast to coast will wear red and landmarks across the U.S. will illuminate in support of National Wear Red Day®, February 6, 2026. Through its Go Red for Women® movement, nationally sponsored by CVS Health, the American Heart Association®, the world's leading nonprofit organization focused on changing the future of health for all, urges everyone to take action during American Heart Month in February to support women's heart health in four ways.
"National Wear Red Day is a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can change the future of women's health," said Stacey E. Rosen, M.D., FAHA, volunteer president of the American Heart Association and senior vice president of women's health and executive director of the Katz Institute for Women's Health of Northwell Health in New York City. "By wearing red, we honor the millions of women impacted by cardiovascular disease and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring every woman has the knowledge, resources and support to live a longer, healthier life."

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association's signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women's heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For more than two decades, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
