Musical theatre alum lands lead role in “Jersey Boys” national tour

When the national tour of "Jersey Boys" kicked off in Syracuse recently, it served as a homecoming of sorts for a fast-rising SUNY Cortland musical theatre alum.

Harry Sperduto '25 stars as Tommy DeVito in the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit, which began a national tour last week at the Landmark Theatre.

The popular musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons from each band member's perspective, chronicling their rise to fame, the challenges they faced and the enduring legacy of the 1960s rock 'n' roll group from New Jersey. Sperduto plays a founding member of the Four Seasons.

He was born in the Republic of Georgia, grew up in Glen Gardner, New Jersey, and shined on stage as a musical theatre major at SUNY Cortland before moving to New York City. As a student, he starred in shows that included "Cabaret," "Anything Goes" and "Company" and more recently performed in regional productions of "Grease" and "Rock of Ages."

In the lead-up to the Syracuse premiere, Sperduto was featured in a Q&A published on "This is CNY." He mentioned meeting at the Landmark Theatre with Ella Perez '23, who played "Babe Cher" in the national tour of "The Cher Show." Sperduto also noted his musical theatre degree and gave a SUNY Cortland shout-out in the "Jersey Boys" playbill.

The 20th anniversary tour of the Broadway hit will visit close to 60 cities through Summer 2027 across the U.S. and Canada, with future stops in Utica, Rochester and Elmira.
