Mexico Attends Colombia's Presidential Inauguration

Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean Raquel Serur Smeke represented the Government of Mexico at the inauguration of Abelardo de la Espriella as President of Colombia, held in Santiago de Cali.

During the visit, and ahead of the ceremony, Undersecretary Serur held a bilateral meeting with Vice President-elect José Manuel Restrepo Abondano and Foreign Minister-designate Omar Bula Escobar to convey her congratulations and Mexico's willingness to continue strengthening ties between the two nations. She also took part in a meeting of Pacific Alliance member countries.

Mexico and Colombia have maintained a Strategic Partnership since 2015 and have built a bilateral relationship based on longstanding ties of friendship, political dialogue, and cooperation. The two countries also share a broad working agenda covering trade, investment, human mobility, technical and educational cooperation, and coordination within regional and multilateral mechanisms.

Mexico reaffirmed its interest and commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations based on dialogue, mutual respect, and the shared well-being of both peoples.
