New All-Way Stop Now in Effect at Intersection of SR-35 and SR-84 (Four Corners)

New All-Way Stop Now in Effect at Intersection of SR-35 and SR-84 (Four Corners)

Published: Oct 02, 2026

San Mateo County - Caltrans has implemented all-way STOP control at the intersection of State Route 35 (Skyline Boulevard) and State Route 84 (La Honda Road), commonly known as the Four Corners Intersection. Drivers approaching the intersection from all directions are now required to come to a complete stop before proceeding.

Motorists should be alert to the new stop signs and pavement markings and allow additional time to stop and proceed through the intersection safely.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution, watch for pedestrians and bicyclists, and follow all posted signs and traffic controls.

The new traffic control is part of the State Route 35 and 84 (Four Corners) Safety Improvement Project, which includes additional safety improvements at the intersection.

Additional improvements planned as part of the project include:

  • Enhancing pavement striping and lane delineation throughout the intersection.
  • Installing all-way STOP pavement markings.
  • Upgrading existing warning signs and adding new warning signs where appropriate.
  • Installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at the pedestrian crossing on SR-35 just north of the intersection.

Construction is expected to continue through Spring 2027. Motorists may encounter one-way traffic control, equipment staging, minor delays, and reduced parking at various locations throughout the project corridor.

All work is weather dependent. Please drive with caution. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
