We are alerting Roseville residents to a scam involving individuals going door to door claiming household water may be unsafe to drink and offering in-home testing. These individuals are not affiliated with the City of Roseville and our utility services.
What we do not do
-
No in-home water testing by surprise. We do not have programs where someone shows up unannounced to test your water.
-
We do not send staff into homes without scheduled appointments.
-
Our employees always wear official uniforms, drive marked utility vehicles, and carry identification.
How to protect yourself
-
Do not invite strangers in. If someone shows up at your door saying they need to test your water, ask to see their ID. If you are unsure, say you will verify.
-
Verify with us by calling water distribution customer service. Call our official number, (916) 774-5750, to check if such a person is legitimately working for us.
-
Report suspicious activity. If someone is pressuring you, acting suspiciously, or claiming to represent us with no proof, contact Roseville Police or Roseville Environmental Utilities immediately.
We want to reassure you that the water we provide meets all state and federal quality standards. We conduct regular water quality testing to ensure safety and compliance. If there were ever a concern, we would communicate directly with you through our official channels.
We encourage residents to remain vigilant and to share this information with neighbors. Your health and safety remain our top priority.
