Summer travel season is officially taking off and the Boise Airport is giving passengers plenty of reasons to turn "getting there early" into part of the fun.
On Thursday, May 21, which kicks off the summer travel season, the airport will welcome passengers with free ice cream treats from local nonprofit BelongCo between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Vacation mode starts with ice cream!

And if you forgot a souvenir or just want to bring a little Boise with you, the airport's retail shops have you covered. New stores include Boise Depot, Capital City Public Market, Sawtooth Essentials and The Shop@Treasure Valley, featuring locally made wines, specialty foods, soaps, lotions, clothing and more along with national brands.
KNOW YOUR PARKING OPTIONS
The airport strongly recommends passengers check the capacity of garages and parking lots before arriving by using this website (https://www.iflyboise.com/parking-transportation/parking-rates/).
The airport has three parking garages and long-term surface parking that provide more than 3,300 close-in parking spaces. Close-in parking costs range from $17-$30 per day.
The lowest daily parking rate is $10/day at the Economy Parking Lot, located at Victory and Orchard (5600 W. Victory Rd.). It has more than 1,800 parking spaces and is served by a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes.
If a passenger wants a guaranteed, easy parking spot, they can reserve parking in advance or use the valet service provided by The Car Park. (https://booking.parking.iflyboise.thecarpark.com/).
ARRIVE EARLY
Passengers should check with their airlines to verify the status of their flight before arriving at the airport. The Boise Airport encourages passengers to arrive 1.5 to two hours before their flight to give themselves ample time to check-in with their airline and clear the security checkpoint.
All passengers 18+ are required to have REAL ID (Star Card), or other acceptable form of identification to go through the TSA checkpoint and board their commercial flight. Here's how to get an Idaho Star Card (https://itd.idaho.gov/StarCard/). If a passenger does not have a REAL ID, the TSA offers TSA ConfirmID, an identity verification option that requires a $45 fee and can take an additional 30 minutes of processing time at the checkpoint. Passengers can start this process at home here (https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1820857221).
TSA also encourages passengers to double check their carry-on luggage to ensure that restricted items are not packed. If you have any questions about what items are allowed in your baggage, please reference the TSA's comprehensive guidance on permitted items (https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all).
The Boise Airport is committed to providing a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers. By following these tips, you can help start your summer vacation off stress-free. Happy travels!
