Harvick, Burton earn Hall of Fame nod after years of Dover success

Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton were voted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Tuesday following NASCAR Cup Series careers that included years of success at Dover Motor Speedway.

The two drivers combined for four Cup Series victories at The Monster Mile while becoming familiar contenders on Dover's concrete oval across multiple decades of NASCAR competition.

Harvick earned three Cup Series wins at Dover during a career that included the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship and 60 victories at NASCAR's highest level.

After years of consistently running near the front at The Monster Mile, Harvick broke through for his first Dover victory in May 2015 while driving for Stewart-Haas Racing. He later added wins in May 2018 and August 2020, including a dominant performance during Dover's 2020 doubleheader weekend when he led 223 laps on the way to Victory Lane.

In 43 career Cup Series starts at Dover, Harvick recorded 23 top-10 finishes and 11 top-five results.

Burton's Dover resume was highlighted by one of the most emotional victories of his NASCAR Cup Series career.

Driving the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the opening race of the 2006 NASCAR Chase for the Championship, Burton snapped a 175-race winless streak by holding off Matt Kenseth late in the event to score his lone Cup Series victory at Dover.

The win immediately vaulted Burton to the top of the championship standings and remains one of the memorable Chase moments in recent Dover history.

Burton made 40 career Cup Series starts at The Monster Mile and totaled 16 top-10 finishes and eight top-five runs during his career.

Combined, Harvick and Burton produced 39 top-10 finishes at Dover while competing against many of NASCAR's biggest stars during the sport's modern era.

Now, both drivers officially have another accomplishment added to resumes that already included memorable moments at one of NASCAR's toughest tracks.
