GLYNCO, Ga. - The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) held its annual awards ceremony on August 20, 2026, recognizing employees and teams whose service, leadership, and dedication advanced the FLETC mission.
"It is a privilege to be here at our Annual Awards Ceremony," said FLETC Director Benjamine C. Huffman. "This is an important opportunity to pause, recognize excellence, and honor the people who make FLETC stronger every day."
During the ceremony, FLETC presented four annual awards, one lifesaving award, and one special recognition. The event highlighted the exemplary contributions of FLETC staff and provided an opportunity to honor employees who demonstrated innovation, professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to public service.
"I've seen firsthand what makes FLETC exceptional and such a special organization," said Director Huffman. "It's not just our training programs or our 56-year history, as important as they are. What truly sets FLETC apart is its people. Our organization is built by dedicated, mission-focused professionals at every level and at every training center. That is the real reason FLETC remains the best law enforcement training center in the world."
The Greg King Instructor of the Year Award was presented to Brian Liebelt, Senior Instructor and Program Coordinator, Investigative Applications Branch of the Investigative Operations Division, Technical Training Operations Directorate. Mr. Liebelt was recognized for demonstrating exemplary innovation, productivity, and creativity in delivering the FLETC training mission.
The FLETC Training Support Staff Member of the Year Award was presented to Hope Colon, who serves as the Purchase/Fleet Card Program Manager in the Chief Financial Officer Directorate. Ms. Colon was honored for her outstanding innovation, productivity, creativity, dependability, teamwork, and professional representation of the organization.
The Bryan Lemons Leadership Award was presented to Brandi Crusan, Deputy Assistant Director in the Chief Financial Officer Directorate. Ms. Crusan was recognized for demonstrating leadership rooted in the values of respect, integrity, service, and excellence, as well as her commitment to FLETC's mission and strategic objectives through customer service and professionalism.
The FLETC Team of the Year Award was presented to the Human Capital Office Workforce Transition Program Team for extraordinary success in accomplishing a significant project through cross-directorate and external collaboration while operating under tight timelines and overcoming potential barriers. The team included 10 outstanding employees from the Human Capital Office: Michele Bell, Darby Best, Michael Creo, Greta Dozier, Laithe Haik, Donna Mayo, Richard Miller, Maaren Porter, Lisa Wells, and Danielle Woodard.
In addition to the annual awards, Director Huffman presented the Director's Life Saving Award to Mashiara Santana, a Training Technician in the Training Administration Branch, Training Administration and Management Division, Training Management Operations Directorate. Ms. Santana was recognized for her swift response to the aid of a fellow employee experiencing a serious health issue. Her immediate assessment of the situation and quick action to administer aid helped ensure her colleague received lifesaving medical care.
The final special recognition was presented to the FLETC Recreation Association for its unwavering dedication and support to all who work and reside at FLETC. The FLETC Recreation Association was recognized for providing inspiration and support to students, staff, and families during numerous shutdowns and for playing an instrumental role in the success of Freedom 250: Bring Your Patriot to Work Day.
The ceremony served as an opportunity to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and service of FLETC employees whose contributions strengthen the organization and support its critical training mission.
