In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with President of Finland Alexander Stubb in a one-on-one format, as well as in an expanded format.

The Head of State thanked the people of Finland and personally Alexander Stubb for Finland's significant defense, humanitarian, and political support for Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized Finland's active participation in the Coalition of the Willing and the country's readiness to be one of the security guarantors for Ukraine.

During the meeting, the leaders paid close attention to the attack carried out by the Russians on Poland last night. Russia used nearly two dozen drones.

"There is a full analysis of the drones' flight paths, and more and more details are being clarified regarding the design of the drones used by Russia. All of this indicates that Russia's launch of drones into Polish territory - through Ukraine and also through Belarus - was deliberate and definitely not an accident," emphasized the President of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Alexander Stubb discussed the need for strong measures and increased pressure on Russia that would genuinely limit the Russian Federation's potential for aggression. In particular, they addressed the preparation of the 19th package of European Union sanctions against Russia.

"Sanctions against the Russian state and against Russian trade are truly necessary, and much of this also depends on the United States. Today, we discussed in detail how to channel our joint capabilities - those of Europe and America - toward increasing pressure on Russia," added the Head of State.

Alexander Stubb noted that the Russian Federation continues to sabotage all peace initiatives and intensify its shelling of civilian cities and infrastructure. In the view of the President of Finland, an adequate level of assistance, a strong Ukrainian army, and Ukraine's accession to the European Union will serve as reliable security guarantees. In addition, Finland is ready to continue supporting the expansion of weapons production - financing Ukrainian facilities and establishing joint production.

"Our strategy will continue to move in two directions. First, we will keep supporting Ukraine militarily, financially, and politically. The second direction is to intensify pressure on Russia and its war economy. The good news is that the sanctions are working, and the Russian economy is in dire straits," said Alexander Stubb.

Special attention was paid to air defense. The focus is not only on strengthening Ukraine's air defense but also on building Europe's eastern air shield.

"Ukraine is ready to share its experience and expand production. Ukraine is offering all European neighbors - our own neighbors and Russia's neighbors - a joint program for financing, producing, and developing interceptor drones," noted Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President of Finland emphasized that his country is constantly improving its defense doctrine on land, at sea, and in the air, and is interested in adopting Ukraine's experience in countering modern drone threats.

The meeting also addressed preparations for the UN General Assembly and the events to be held on its sidelines, as well as the continuation of cooperation within the Shelter Coalition.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Alexander Stubb for his visit and for the participation of the First Lady of Finland in the Fifth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which is taking place in Kyiv. The President of Ukraine awarded the President of Finland the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, I class.

"Thank you, Mr. President, and thank you to the entire Ukrainian people for this award. I see it not as a personal award, but as an award to the Finnish people for their support of Ukraine," said Alexander Stubb.
