Mayor Bass Issues Statement Regarding Fire Near Sepulveda Basin
LOS ANGELES - Today, Mayor Bass issued the following statement:
"This morning, LAFD personnel quickly responded and extinguished a fire near the Sepulveda Basin. I thank the brave firefighters who were on the scene quickly to keep the surrounding neighborhoods safe.
"Last July, I launched a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to address longstanding challenges in the Sepulveda Basin centered on public safety - and we're seeing results. LAFD has reported a significant decrease in the call volume for fires in the Sepulveda Basin, large amounts of debris and vegetation that increase fire risk have been removed, and we continue providing outreach to people experiencing homelessness.
"We will continue working with the community and taking urgent action to make the Sepulveda Basin recreation area and surrounding neighborhoods cleaner, safer, and more accessible for all."
