Enhanced road fuel monitoring report: May 2026

This document provides an update on the Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA's) monitoring of UK road fuel prices, retail spreads and margins. We assess the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on fuel prices, spreads and margins. We also analyse the differences in prices of retail petrol and diesel between different types of outlets. The report includes:

  • fuel margins for the supermarket and other fuel retailers, with a focus from the end of February 2026 to the end of March 2026

  • average UK pump prices and their components, including retail spread, from the end of February 2026 to April 2026

The report relies on data we gathered using our powers under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act 2024.
