Rep. Scholten Holds First Congressional Dialogue Series on Housing in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Last night, U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03) hosted the first installment of her Congressional Dialogue Series, a new initiative bringing West Michigan community members together to discuss key issues and how the Congresswoman can help address them in Washington. This conversation focused on the skyrocketing cost of housing and what real solutions can look like.

"It's great to see so many neighbors, advocates, and community leaders gathered for my very first Congressional Dialogue Series, focused on an issue that I hear about every single day: housing. The panel we've assembled reflects the many sides of the housing challenge - policy, development, equity, and community voice - and the incredible work already happening in West Michigan," Rep. Scholten said in her opening remarks. "Government works best when citizens like you make your voices heard in spaces just like this one tonight. I can then go back to Washington and respond to your ideas and concerns with action."

The panel of local housing experts included Eureka People, President of Housing Kent, Jacob Horner, Chief Real Estate Development Officer at Dwelling Place, Eric Brown, President and CEO of Urban League of West Michigan, and Kevin Einfeld, Builder and Developer at BDR Custom Homes.

Rep. Scholten's Congressional Dialogue Series will continue through 2026, each focusing on a different issue relevant to West Michigan, including health care, immigration, data centers and protecting our environment. More information is available at https://scholten.house.gov/dialogue-series.
