Jay Yang, M.D., hematologist, medical oncologist and leader of the Hematology Oncology Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos, explained to Patient Power that myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, 'is a cancer of the blood-forming cells (hematopoietic stem cells).' He further goes over the risk factors and symptoms of this rare disease.
