Norton Rose Fulbright lawyers receive Chair appointment and Distinguished Service Award from the State Bar of Texas Health Law Section

Norton Rose Fulbright partner Jeff Wurzburg (San Antonio) was elected Chair of the State Bar of Texas Health Law Section, while of counsel Debbi Johnstone (Houston) received the section's Distinguished Service Award.

The State Bar of Texas Health Law Section supports lawyers practicing in a variety of healthcare -related fields through educational programming, professional development and leadership opportunities.

As Chair, Jeff will lead the State Bar of Texas Health Law Section from Oct. 6, 2026 to Oct. 5, 2027. Jeff focuses his practice on regulatory, compliance, reimbursement and policy issues facing providers and health plans, with extensive experience in Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. He regularly advises clients on federal health care program reimbursement, compliance, state and federal fraud and abuse laws and government investigations.

Debbi's honor recognizes lawyers who have advanced the practice of health law and demonstrated a commitment to leadership, mentorship and service. With more than 40 years of experience, Debbi's experience includes matters involving mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate compliance, hospital-physician contracts as well as physician recruitment and employment.

These recognitions reflect Norton Rose Fulbright's longstanding leadership in Texas healthcare law. Retired partner Donna Clark also received this year's Distinguished Service Award. US Chief Integration Partner, Life Sciences and HealthcareYvonne Puig and partner Jerry Bell (Austin) are among the firm's past recipients.
