Overnight Full Closures of Westbound State Route 4 Between Balfour Road and Laurel Road in the City Of Brentwood

Nightly Full closures continue between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Contra Costa County - For the safety of the motoring public and our crews, Caltrans Construction will continue full closures on SR-4; spanning from Hillcrest Avenue to Byron Highway for ongoing paving and drainage operations. Full closures of westbound SR-4 will be implemented, nightly 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. June 29, 2026, through Wednesday July 2, 2026, in the City of Brentwood between Balfour Road and Laurel Road. Please note as work progresses the full closure may shorten, please follow posted detour signs and slow for the cone zone. Please note: All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Motorists are advised that complete closures, as well as lane and ramp closures, will continue along SR-4 Sunday through Thursday nights between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. The westbound closures on SR-4 will reopen at 5:00 a.m. This project is tentatively scheduled to be complete by Summer 2027.

WESTBOUND:

From WB SR-4:

  • Take Balfour Rd Exit
  • Turn right on Balfour Rd
  • Follow Balfour Rd
  • Turn left on Fairview Ave
  • Turn left on Sand Creek Rd
  • Turn right on Hillcrest Rd
  • Turn right on Laurel Rd
  • Take WB on-ramp to SR-4

All work is weather dependent and is subject to change.

Please follow posted signs and detour routes during these closure periods. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time. Please see next page for more detour information.
