In a recent feature for Albany Business Review, Shelly Stone, partner and practice leader for wealth management group Cerity Partners' Albany office, talks about overseeing a team of financial advisers who collectively manage about $5.5 billion in client assets.
The Rochester-area native has spent her career helping high-net-worth families navigate the complexities that come with wealth. She found her way into the industry while in law school, where she won a scholarship and internship with wealth management firm Ayco (now a part of investment bank Goldman Sachs).
While at Ayco, where she spent more than two decades, Stone worked under Dan Nolan, who became a mentor. She left in 2022 to join Nolan at Graypoint LLC, an independent advisory firm in Albany. When Graypoint merged into Cerity Partners, a fast-growing firm with offices across the country, Nolan took on a broader role with the company, and Stone succeeded him as the Capital Region unit's leader.
