Massport Announces New Director of Worcester Regional Airport

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is pleased to announce that Matthew Elia will be the next Director of Worcester Regional Airport, effective today, August 24. Elia comes to Worcester with 20 years of airport management experience. Matt is replacing recently retired Andy Davis, who ran the airport for nearly 18 years.

"I am excited to welcome Matthew Elia to Worcester Regional Airport," said Rich Davey, CEO of Massport. "We were sad to see longtime Director Andy Davis retire in July, but Matthew will bring years of experience in airport management to Worcester and will be working closely with our airline partners and the community to make sure the airport continues to be an integral part of Central Massachusetts."

Elia is an experienced aviation leader, with over 20 years in the industry. He most recently was a Senior Airport Planner with Hoyle Tanner & Associates, where he developed airport master plans and technical analyses for airports across New England and Florida. He also previously served as the Assistant Airport Manager for Cape Cod Gateway Airport in Hyannis, MA, Aviation Manager for the City of Tavares, FL where he managed the Tavares Seaplane Base, the Assistant Airport Manager for New Beford Regional Airport in New Bedford, MA, and Assistant Airport Manager for King Aviation at Mansfield Municipal Airport in Mansfield, MA.

"Matthew will be a fantastic addition to the team at Worcester Regional Airport," said Sharon Williams, Executive Director of Aviation for Massport. "He brings 20 years of knowledge, relationships and skills to Worcester and will build on the legacy of Andy Davis, who helped bring multiple airlines and flights to Central Massachusetts. Matthew will build on this and ensure the continued success of the airport."

Elia also sits on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Airport Management Association and the Aviation Industry Advisory Board at Bridgewater State University. He has also been a lecturer at Bridgewater State University and Daniel Webster College, where he taught General Aviation Management & Aviation Marketing Management. He is also a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor.

Elia holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation from Bridgewater State University, and an M.B.A from UMass Darthmouth.
